Rutgers seeks Assistant Professor of Art in Painting

The Visual Arts Department of the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University seeks an accomplished painter to join our faculty. Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate painting at all levels and studio practice and critical seminar in our interdisciplinary graduate program; assisting in the recruitment of BFA and graduate students; mentoring graduate painting TAs; participating in departmental life including with curriculum development and committee work, and serving school-wide and university needs while maintaining a high level of professional activity and scholarly research.


  • National and international profile with evident professional recognition
  • Minimum three years or equivalent of full-time teaching at university level
  • M.F.A. degree in Art

Rank: Assistant Professor/Tenure track
Salary: Appropriate to rank and qualifications
Starting date: September 1, 2012
