AQUA ART FAIR: Dec 1 – 5, 2011

This contemporary art fair takes place each December at the Aqua Hotel on Miami Beach. This year, the show opens with a preview party on Wednesday evening, November 30th, 2011. The fair began in 2005 as an experimental project to bring west coast galleries and artists to Miami during Art Basel week. Based in Seattle, the fair has a distinctly west coast character set off by the balmy indoor/outdoor atmosphere of the Aqua Hotel. The Art Asia Miami Fair is a selective showcase of galleries from around the world that focus on the best of established and emerging contemporary artists throughout Asia. FOUNTAIN ART FAIR: Dec 1 – 4, 2011

Fountain was founded in 2006 as an attempt to leverage support for smaller independent galleries to gain access to larger collectors and critics. Since its inception Fountain has held 3 exhibitions in New York, one in Chicago and is showcasing for its fourth exhibition in Miami. Typically, Fountain takes place at a large warehouse venue in close proximity to other art fairs such as The Armory Show or Art Basel Miami Beach. NADA ART FAIR: Dec 1 – 4, 2011

NADA is held in parallel with Art Basel Miami Beach and is recognized as a much needed alternative assembly of the world’s youngest and strongest art galleries dealing with emerging contemporary art. It is the only major American art fair to be run by a non-profit organization. NADA looked for new ways to lower costs for younger galleries. Moving to North Beach allowed NADA to lower overall booth costs and discounted prices on hotel rooms. The 2010 edition of the fair was its second year at the Deauville Beach Resort and another great year for NADA exhibitors. Curated by Miami-based artist Charo Oquet, director of Edge, Zones Miami is a niche fair/event that includes a food-tasting session, talks, cocktails, exhibitions, video screenings, music, performance and publications. A strong local flavor runs through this fair. The focus is on up-and-coming artists and making their works more accessible to the public.
