New York’s leading presenter of contemporary art projects seeks a part-time Communications Intern

PUBLIC ART FUND is New York’s leading presenter of artists’ projects, new commissions, installations and exhibitions in public spaces. Since 1977, the Public Art Fund has been committed to working with emerging and established artists to produce innovative exhibitions of contemporary art throughout New York City.

Public Art Fund is looking for a highly motivated, responsible intern to assist the Communications Department with tasks related to the marketing of the organization and it’s exhibitions; public relations and media outreach; and special events. This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience and learn the inner workings of a non-profit art organization. The intern will receive a stipend of $25 per day.

• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel
• Knowledge of social media platforms
• Start ASAP and remain through June; Ability to commit to 1.5 days per week
(Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday preferable)

Intern responsibilities include:
• Managing press contact list in Raiser’s Edge; researching new contacts
• Monitoring media coverage; producing, organizing, and archiving clippings
• Producing, editing, and proofing media materials
• Assembling materials, including audio visual, for archives
• Assisting with creation of digital archive
• Assisting with social media strategy
• Conducting general marketing research
• Attending events, including talks and openings, and assisting as needed
